Bible SuperSearch 2.7.5 has just been released.   Fixed some bugs in Internet Explorer Added a destination page option. This will allow displaying the form on one page, but viewing the results on another.  Note: Both pages must be on the same domain. Work on Bible SuperSearch 4.0 is progressing; it should be ready by Spring 2019, if not sooner.

Bible SuperSearch 2.7.0 has been released. Features added in this release: Strong’s numbers (King James Version) Displaying Searching Italicization of added words (KJV and Reina Valera Gómez) Words of Christ in Red (KJV and RVG) Strong’s number support has been included in the unreleased ‘Pro’ (3.0) version for years.  It is now released and available for everyone.  This includes inline Strong’s numbers in the text, indicating the root word from which the text was translated.  Hovering over a number will display it’s definition in a dialog.  Clicking on the number will search the Bible for it.  In addition, you can search for Strong’s numbers in any search query.  Example: Search for faith G3551.  The Strong’s numbers display can be toggled on and off. Italicization (also previously included in ‘Pro’), and Red Letter can also be toggled on and off.   You can now have all of these advanced Bible search features on your website.   Download Here  

This release adds several interfaces to the new client. Some have been migrated from the legacy software, but we have also added a set of minimal interfaces. This release also fixes several bugs and formatting issues.

A few users have expressed concern about our new software, especially since it relies on our API. We believe our new client software is very easy to install.  It’s also able to be used on websites not equipped with PHP and / or MySQL.  So it is more usable than our legacy software.  That being said, the client software runs off of our API located at api.biblesupersearch.com.  Unlike our legacy software, it does not run completely on your website.  We will soon release the code for our API, bundled with our client.  This bundle will allow running the current version of the software completely on your site.  Please see our downloads page. For those who have concerns about using our client software, you may continue to use the legacy software as we’re still supporting it with bug fixes for now.  (However, it is not supported in PHP 7 or above.)   We are also in the process of adding several more skins to the software.

We are pleased to announce the release of Bible SuperSearch 2.6.0.  This is a complete rebuild of the software from the ground up. Last summer, we released our API (version 2.5).  Now, with updates to the API, we are able to release our new frontend client.  The frontend is written in a JavaScript framework (Enyo JS), and retrieves search data via a direct call to the API.  This results in a much faster user experience. To speed development up, we did not redesign the user interface at this time, but just ported the existing UI to the new software.  However, this does not mean that we will be keeping this look.  In the near future, we will design some nicer, much more modern interfaces to choose from.   Features: Everything that existed in Bible SuperSearch 2.2 and earler. Much faster, especially with the proximity searches. Ability to turn on and off Bible versions Official WordPress plugin   As this rebuilt software will replace our older software, we strongly encourage users to upgrade.  The old software will be discontinued at some point.

We are excited to announce the beta release of a webservice API for Bible SuperSearch. We have been working to completely rebuild the software from the ground up into modern PHP and JavaScript frameworks. This API is the first release of this work.  The API has been built using the Laravel framework, and has most, if not all, of the current (v 2.2) functionality.  It also features a fully optimized verse proximity search algorithm.  The future 4.0 release will incorporate unreleased v3.0 (“Bible SuperSearch Pro”) functionality, along with completely new features. These features will include: Brand new, streamlined frontend built with Enyo JS Italicization of added words Strongs number search Strongs definitions Native plugins for common content management systems (CMS) including WordPress, Drupal and Joomla More options for displaying, copying, and printing text. Embedded Strongs numbers (for selected Bibles) Statistics for a given passage including readability statistics Our current software installs completely on your website.  While we believe that this decentralized approach is the best way, we also see that this new JavaScript client will be much easier for the less tech savy to install, and they will not have to maintain a database with it.  CMS plugins should make our software plug-and-play for anyone using those CMS’s.  We will also, at some point in the future, release the API server code as well, and encourage others to run the software independent of our website. Please note, that if you are trying to run Bible SuperSearch on PHP 7, it will not work.  Bible SuperSearch uses the old PHP mysql extension, which is removed in PHP 7. We are currently developing Bible SuperSearch 4.0, which will support PHP 7.
